Botanic Cafe is an Italian restaurant located in Adelaide. Located on one of Adelaide's prettiest streets, this funky, up-beat cafe is camouflaged on the outside by an historic early 1900's building. Once inside, everything screams modernity- from the super swish menus to laid back tunes. Skirting the edge of East Terrace, Botanic Cafe's face is as pretty as its personality. The generous street frontage is an extension of the dining room, where pavement tables are screened from the sun by energetic greenery and wide calico umbrellas. Even better news, the kind staff won't forget you if you choose to dine outside. The menu is very Italian, and the entree of fried local squid with a tangle of fresh rocket and chilli garlic aioli is a charmer, though the half-duck with poached quince is just as appealing.Inside, the large room is divided by screens, gauze curtains, columns and a slab of marble serving as a high table. Botanic Cafe has been humming along very nicely for few years, but now has leaped forward under the passionate new owner Cono Gorgone, true to Cono's own Sicilian heritage, the cuisine favours Italian with a dash of Mediterranean.Botanic Cafe is the definitive example of Adelaide's culinary coming of age.
